HEAD Discovery 78 Sport + PROTECTOR 11 - Brown/Red

The HEAD Discovery 78 Sport is a versatile, responsive all-mountain ski for full days on mixed terrain and in changing snow. It comes as a set with the Protector EVO PR 11 GW binding, which combines maximum safety with performance.

The wood-composite core with Auxetic Tech makes the ski light and easy to control. Its progressive flex is simple: the harder you press, the more the ski pushes back. That makes it agile when you want it and stable when you need it. The All-Ride rocker profile (80% camber, 20% tip rocker) makes turn initiation easy with good edge grip, and the medium radius and 78 mm waist suit many conditions, including powder.

The Protector EVO PR 11 GW has a VX toe with BTR kinematics (Binding Trigger Release). It gives constant release values in backward-twisting falls and compensates for friction using two different release characteristics depending on vertical load. The toe also has an AFS (Anti-Friction Slider) and Full Diagonal release. The redesigned heel with Full Heel Release (FHR) releases 180° horizontally and vertically and can significantly reduce the risk of knee and lower-leg injuries. A University of Innsbruck simulation found it can cut ACL stress by more than 50%. Stepping in and out is easier too. The binding uses the PowerRail system (PR Base) and works without adjustment with Alpine (ISO 5355) and GripWalk (ISO 23223) boots.
